Prophetic Narrations You Probably Have Never Heard - Part II

Bismillah
Last year, I shared a short compilation of Prophetic narrations that were unheard of in our English-speaking circles.
Alhamdulillah (praise belongs to God), a few of our readers asked that I continue sharing these narrations. I’ve compiled here, for the second time, a few narrations that resonated with me. The purpose of this compilation is to [...]

Prophetic Narrations You Probably Have Never Heard

Bismillah
As I became more advanced in my Arabic studies, I immersed myself in reading hadith (prophetic narrations) in the language spoken by our Messenger ﷺ (may the peace and blessings of God be upon him). The more I read, the more I realized how many narrations we—as the English-speaking community—have never read [...]

Those who Inherited the Book

Bismillah
Allah azza wa jal says,
Then we caused to inherit the Book those We have chosen of Our servants; and among them is he who wrongs himself, and among them is he who is [...]

Supplication of the One in Hardship

Bismillah
When a calamity befalls the believer, he begins making duaa constantly, but he may not see any sign of a response for some time. When he is close to despair, Allah looks into his heart to see if he is pleased and content with the Decree, and not hopeless or discouraged. If this is his [...]

The Alternation of Days

Bismillah
Know that time does not remain at a stand-still, for Allah azza wa jal says:
وَتِلْكَ الْأَيَّامُ نُدَاوِلُهَا بَيْنَ النَّاسِ
And these days [of varying conditions] We alternate among the people. (3:140)
One time it is poverty, and another time it is wealth. Once it is honor, and another it is humiliation. So the happy one is the [...]

Bismillah
For the one whose deeds are great and many, he must busy himself with showing gratitude for them, for the accord to show gratitude is one of the greatest blessings Allah bestows upon His servant. It is obligatory upon him to meet these deeds with gratitude and realize his deficiency in displaying due gratitude.
Wahb ibn [...]

Covering the Faults of Muslims

Bismillah
The Prophet (sal Allahu alayhi wa sallam) said, “Whoever covers the fault of his Muslim brother, Allah will cover his faults on the Day of Judgment.” [Bukhari]
Imam al-Munawi (rahimahullah) says,
“Covering the fault of a Muslim means to not reveal any deeds they committed or words they said that will humiliate them, because revealing them may [...]

Meaning of “Rawh”

Bismillah
Allah azza wa jal says in surah Waqi’ah:
فَأَمَّا إِن كَانَ مِنَ الْمُقَرَّبِينَ فَرَوْحٌ وَرَيْحَانٌ وَجَنَّتُ نَعِيمٍ
Then, if he (the dying person) be of those brought near to Allah, then for him is rawh and bounty and a Garden of Delights. (56:88-89)
There are many scholarly opinions regarding what rawh is, among them:
1- Happiness and delight, narrated from Sa’eed [...]

Why is “rahmah” singular and ‘barakat’ plural in the salaams?

Bismillah
Have you ever wondered why “rahmah” is singular and “barakat” plural in the salaams?
Rahmah is a masdar (verbal noun) that does not have a plural. It would be incorrect to say “Rahamat”, just as we do not say “ra’afaat” (kindness), instead we say “ra’fah”. Rahamat would signify a limit that would be contained within a [...]
