Ya Ebaadi: My Servants

Bismillah
When Allah azza wa jal address His servants, He subhanahu wa ta’ala will say “‘ebaadi” - My servants. Sometimes the ‘yaa’ pronoun (yaa al-mutakalim, meaning “my”) will be there and sometimes it be omitted, while still retaining the meaning of “my”. Why this change?

“As if they were Alarmed Donkeys”

Bismillah
Allah ta’ala says in surah Muddaththir:
Then what is [the matter] with them that they are, from the reminder, turning away, As if they were alarmed donkeys, fleeing from a lion? (74:49-51)
Allah compares them in their turning away from the Qur’an to a donkey that sees [...]

Taken from Muslim Youth Musings

“Come in”, Shaykh Haroon Baqai said.
I walked in slowly, shaking from head to toe. I had only applied for the Hifzh School a few days ago, and now I found myself entering his office for a scheduled interview. Alhamdulillah, it went smooth and after answering a few questions and memorizing anAyah from Surah [...]

The Wives of Lut and Nuh

Bismillah
In surah Tahreem, Allah azza wa jal says about the wives of Lut and Nuh:
“and it was said: “Enter the Fire along with those who enter!” (66:12)
We notice here that Allah ta’ala used the passive form in “qeela”, “it was said” (the doer is not mentioned).

Word Analysis: Inbaghaa

Bismillah
A word that has recently fascinated me is the word inbaghaa إِنْبَغَى , which appears in the Qur’an in different verbal forms. This word is usually translated as “suitable” or “befitting” but has a deeper meaning…as always :)
This word can carry four different meanings depending on the context of the ayah. Here are some [...]

He Has Blessed You, Yet You Turn Away?

Bismillah
Allah says in the Qur’an,
Do you not see that Allah has made subject to you whatever is in the heavens and whatever is in the earth and [...]
