How many times have we heard this duaa in our lives: Rabbana aatina fid-dunya hasanah, wa fil-akhirati hasanah, wa qinaa athaban naar. Have we ever contemplated how complete this duaa is?

عَنْ أُمِّ المُؤْمِنِينَ عَائِشَةَ رَضِيَ الله عَنْهَا قَالَتْ: سَأَلْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَنْ هَذِهِ الْآيَةِ: “وَالَّذِينَ يُؤْتُونَ مَا آتَوْا وَقُلُوبُهُمْ وَجِلَةٌ”: قَالَتْ عَائِشَةُ: أَهُمْ الَّذِينَ يَشْرَبُونَ الْخَمْرَ وَيَسْرِقُونَ؟ قَالَ: “لَا يَا بِنْتَ الصِّدِّيقِ وَلَكِنَّهُمْ الَّذِينَ يَصُومُونَ وَيُصَلُّونَ وَيَتَصَدَّقُونَ وَهُمْ يَخَافُونَ أَنْ لَا يُقْبَلَ مِنْهُمْ، أُولَئِكَ الَّذِينَ يُسَارِعُونَ فِي الْخَيْرَاتِ”. رواه الترمذي (3175) [...]

Allah ta’ala says in Suratun Nisaa, in two seemingly balanced ayaat:
وَمَن يُطِعِ اللَّهَ وَرَسُولَهُ يُدْخِلْهُ جَنَّاتٍ تَجْرِي مِن تَحْتِهَا الْأَنْهَارُ خَالِدِينَ فِيهَا ۚ وَذَ‌ٰلِكَ الْفَوْزُ الْعَظِيمُ
Those who obey Allah and His Messenger will be admitted to Gardens with rivers flowing beneath, to abide therein (for ever) and that will be the supreme achievement.

وَمَن يَعْصِ اللَّهَ [...]

Allah ta’ala says in surah Dhaariyaat:
وَالسَّمَاءِ ذَاتِ الْحُبُكِ
“By  the Sky, full of paths!” (51:7)
Allah ta’ala swears an oath concerning the sky, and what it contains.
الْحُبُكِ- is from ha-ba-kaaf (ح ب ك) and there are a few opinions on this word.

ق ۚ وَالْقُرْآنِ الْمَجِيدِ
“Qaaf. By the Qur’an that is Majeed” (50:1)

Allah ta’ala says in suratul Anbiya ayah 105,
وَلَقَدْ كَتَبْنَا فِي الزَّبُورِ مِن بَعْدِ الذِّكْرِ أَنَّ الْأَرْضَ يَرِثُهَا عِبَادِيَ الصَّالِحُونَ

And We have already written in the Zaboor (Psalms) after the [previous] mention that the land is inherited by My righteous servants. (21:105)
What is “al-ardh, the land” referring too in this verse?

The subtleties in the Qur’an are simply amazing. One letter can show such emphasis, empower a statement and send a powerful message to the listeners.
An example of this is in Suratul Waaqi’ah, Allah ta’ala says:
أَفَرَأَيْتُمُ الْمَاءَ الَّذِي تَشْرَبُونَ أَأَنْتُمْ أَنْزَلْتُمُوهُ مِنَ الْمُزْنِ أَمْ نَحْنُ الْمُنْزِلُونَ لَوْ نَشَاءُ جَعَلْنَاهُ أُجَاجًا فَلَوْلَا تَشْكُرُونَ

The next characteristic of the Qur’an is Mubeen.
“Al Kitaabil Mubeen” appears many times in the Qur’an at the beginning of surahs after the huroof muqatt’aat (disjointed letters).
