Beautiful Answer from Shaykh ibn Baaz
Bismillah
While shaykh ibn Baaz rahimahullah was teaching, he came to explain this hadeeth:
Narrated Abu Huraira: Allah’s Apostle sal Allahu alayhi wa sallam said, “None of you should walk, wearing one shoe only; he should either put on both shoes or put on no shoes whatsoever.” (Bukhari and Muslim)
The Shaykh was then asked regarding this hadeeth, so he rahimahullah responded, “it is clearly forbidden [to walk with one shoe].” Then the questioner asked, “Even if the other shoe is nearby?” He rahimahullah replied, “Do not wear them except together.” The questioner then responded again, “Even if it’s only one sin?”
So the shaykh, rahimahullah, responded, “Desire strongly that you do not disobey Allah subhanahu wa ta’ala, even if it is one sin.”

This seems a lot like the quote, “Do not think of the enormity of the sin, but think of the enormity against the One you are committing it against”…
