Bismillah

Allah ta’ala says in surah Dhaariyaat:

وَالسَّمَاءِ ذَاتِ الْحُبُكِ

“By  the Sky, full of paths!” (51:7)

Allah ta’ala swears an oath concerning the sky, and what it contains.

الْحُبُكِ- is from ha-ba-kaaf (ح ب ك) and there are a few opinions on this word.

Firstly, it is said to be plural of hibaak (حباك), which is used for pathways between sand dunes or waves. They are the patterns that form on the surface of water or sand because of the wind.

Secondly, it is said to be plural of habeekah (حبيكة), which is used for a path or a route, as well as the orbit of a celestial body.

Allah ta’ala swears by the sky, ذَاتِ الْحُبُكِ, full of paths: the sky that has waves of different colors and designs, and the sky that contains pathways of the galaxies, the orbits of the heavens.
