walhamdulillah
Allah ta’ala mentions this statement many times in the Qur’an:
إِنَّ ذَلِكَ مِنْ عَزْمِ الْأُمُورِ
Certainly that is from the noble tasks.
When this statement occurs, it is always in reference to sabr (patience).
However, when this statement appears in Surah Shoora (42), something different occurs that does not in all the other ayaat….Allah azza wa jal states:
إِنَّ [...]

walhamdulillah,
Shaykh Hosary rahimahullah, is not only the best of the Egyptian Reciters, but he is the best reciter of our time…hands down. may Allah azza wa jal make the Qur’an a proof for him on the Day of Judgment, Ameen.
The best recitation in my opinion that I’ve ever heard of Shaykh Hosary rahimahullah is [...]

Alhamdulillah these past three weeks have been filled with gems from the Qur’an that both soothe your heart and shake it with fear. SubhanAllah, I already realized how much we are neglecting the Qur’an but learning these deep and sometimes hidden gems revealed this to me further. I am truly scared for our ummah because [...]

In the Qur’an, Allah ta’ala swears by many things, which is known as a “qasm” in Arabic–showing the importance and honor of the object. Here is a previous bayyinah gem on qasm. (Assignment for the readers: mention some things that Allah ta’ala swears by in the Qur’an! Hint: there are a lot in Juz ‘Amma) [...]

walhamdulillah, we received another double gem session last night, but since they are different topics inshaAllah I will post them separately.
So here is Qur’anic gem # seven:
In surah Shu’ara (26), Allah ta’ala mentions the stories of many Prophets, and He says:
إِذْ قَالَ لَهُمْ أَخُوهُمْ نُوحٌ
When their brother Nuh (alayhi salaam) said to them, and [...]

Bismillah walhamdulillah,
May Allah ta’ala make us companions of the Qur’an. Ameen.
I’ve been realizing how true the statement “the more you learn, the less you know” is. SubhanAllah as many Qur’an classes you or myself have taken, the bottom line is that we can never finish studying the Qur’an; there is always something to learn.
On Wednesday [...]

Al-Quddoos
The One who is Very Pure, Absolutely Pure, He is far and above anything that does not befit Him.
Al Quddoos is from the root qaaf-daal-seen (ق د س), Al-Quddoos has two meanings linguistically. It is on the structure of fu’ool, a form of mubaalagah/intensification.
1. First meaning of Qaf-daal-seen (ق [...]
Bismillah walhamdulillah,
These gems keep getting better as the class progresses mashaAllah. We actually received a double-whammy on Tuesday. I think these gems are my favorite so far, so here’s Qur’anic gem #5 from Tuesday night:
In Suratul Hajj (22) Allah ta’ala uses two distinct words to give the meaning of “selection”. ( اجتبىand اصطفى)
Allah ta’ala says [...]

Alhamdulillah after a long break, our bayyinah classes with brother Nouman started again! Here was last night’s gem:
Syntax in the Qur’an
We learned before that the Qur’an doesn’t compromise style or content; it maintains both aspects flawlessly.
Two simple examples from the Qur’an display this fact.
Allah azza wa jal says in Suratul Muddathir verse three:
وَرَبَّكَ فَكَبِّرْ [...]

Al Malik - The King and Owner of Dominion
Allah has three Names that are similar to Malik: Maleek (مليك) and Maalik (مالك). The meaning for all three names is: One who possesses the attribute of Mulk. What is Mulk? Kingdom, dominion, power, authority. Mulk has three meanings:
1) Possession and ownership (لَهُ مُلْكُ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالأَرْضِ To [...]
